"The Little Hinge That Swings The Big Door"

As a Business Mentor I'm shocked by the lack of Planning in Business. In my experience with Corporates, SME's or Owner Managers, it seems to matter little. I took a live poll during a Key Note Speech I delivered to 100 Business owners in City Hall, Dublin before Xmas and asked 2 simple Q's:
  1. How Many People here have a written Plan? ..90% did not
  2. How Many People here Follow their written Plan....20%...of 10% (= 2/100 or 2%)

This mirrors the famous Harvard research from 1979. Even there only 3% of Harvard Graduates had any concrete plans in place. Those that did out-performed the others by 600%!!

  • Would you get on a plane without a destination?
  • Would you take a lift from 'nice people' but not know where they were going?
  • Why is this seemingly OK at work?? Think about that...in the current climate-Crazy!!

Here's something that might help you, click on http://www.precisioncoach.ie/resources learn about a SIMPLE framework called S.O.S.T.A.C.

If you can use it on your own go ahead, if you're struggling with HOW TO APPLY it, give me a call and I'll give you a free Consultation over the phone........

Don't kid yourself and don't suffer silently...... It is the little hinge that swings the big door.

Where have all the LEADERS gone........??

Leadership is greatly misunderstood. In essence it's a CHOICE people make, either to do something or not as the case may be. There is a great saying "The fish always rots from the head" If you can't be sure Leadership exists in your Business...the chances are it doesn't. It always starts with YOU as Leader. People are WATCHING and WAITING...Your move!

There are no accidents here! But it can be improved.
Here are 3 simple things you can do right now:
  1. Tell your People what you want to achieve, the part they play in it and how it will be done
  2. Tell them you can't do it alone and need their help and want their creativity to find new ways to succeed
  3. Remember to say 'Thanks'. Reward what works and learn from what doesn't. Learn, Change, Move on and Get Better!

This will see a marked improvement in engagement, results and work atmosphere....... Your business will begin to come alive.

What are YOU doing about Leadership in your Business....or are you just too busy and hoping this will be done by someone else?..........Big gamble........even bigger risk.

Coaching ...."The Sleeping Giant"

Coaching is the best, fastest and most effective way to help people SEE differently, then BEHAVE differently and then get different RESULTS. If you have this covered then happy days!
Your Coach should be able to operate across this spectrum..............If not, read on.

I see this time and time again. Now is not the time to cut back on Coaching or just reserve it for "difficult cases". Invest in all your people. Skill them up to face the challenges ahead.

Think Smarter instead of simply working harder...........
  1. Are you using Coaching right now with your people?
  2. What is it allowing you do you previously couldn't?
  3. People deliver more if you invest in them properly
  4. It also send them a positive message you believe in them and are prepared to invest when it matters most.
  5. It's just GOOD BUSINESS.........that's a 'win-win'

Vital Skills of the great BUSINESS Coach

People have asked me many times "what should a good Coach be able to do"? A great question-What the range and repertoire of the expert Coach should be.....

I believe a great Coach should be able to do the following:

  1. Help you get clear about what's important to you without giving advise, telling or instructing. (If they're professionally trained this is what they naturally do)
  2. Be able to understand your Business world and be able to understand it based on the above (Done a real job, understands how a Corporate environment really works)
  3. If you agree they should be able to offer some 1 to 1 support by way of training in new skills and be able to help you practice these skills in a safe environment.

This is what my Clients need from me.............Is this what you do as Coaches and as Coachees is this what you pay for and get?
